Haribol! All Glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga!
We are happy to share our book distribution report. Today, October 1, 2014 we set up a table at the local farmers market with much success. We had many of Srila Gurudeva’s books and Syamarani didi’s posters. So many people walked past the table and immediately became enchanted.
Ananga Mohan Prabhu spent over an hour speaking with three university students who had studied some yoga and were curious about the impersonal and personal aspects of the Lord.
Sudevi dasi spoke with another group of locals who were asking about the Goddess Kali and in turn she was able to glorify Srimati Radhika as the source of all shaktis.
I felt fortunate to explain how each painting was carefully directed by the direct realization of our dearmost Gurudeva. I requested that each person give what they could and to take something from the table.
One young man opened his wallet and said, ‘Here take everything I have, this is what it is for.’ He proceeded to take the entire content of his wallet and hand it over! He was very attracted to the Venu Gita picture so I gave him a Venu Gita book and small posted, he was delighted.
One of the most amazing things at the market was the determination of our littlest sanga member, the kids, ranging from 7-10 years old. They bravely took Srila Gurudeva’s books and walked all around the market distributing books.
Vedanta Sutra Prabhu walked around with his son Balarama dasa who had a ‘line’ that he said to convince people to buy books.
Syamala and Jaya Sri, Sudevi’s daughters tirelessly ran around the market and kept coming back to the table saying, ‘More books! More books!’
My own son and the youngest distributor, Navakishore, collected the most. He kept coming back with the same book in his hand saying,’They tell me they don’t want a book but they keep giving me money anyways!’ He was very excited to be the biggest collector and did distribute many books over the 3 hours we were there.
After our big day, everyone was very chatty on the car ride home, sharing stories of the questions and answers that were shared. We all agreed that it was very inspiring, uplifting and most of all we felt that Srila Gurudeva was proud of our small endeavor. We can’t wait to go again next week!
Many thanks to the GVP Sponsorship Program for sponsoring books and art for us so we can distribute Srila Gurudeva’s books and at the same time raise money for educational programs for the children in Alachua.
