Houston, Texas Janmastami 2011

Hare Krishna, All glories to our spiritual masters.

In March of 2009 through the help of the GVP sponsorship program, we launched the Houston book rack, free book distribution program where we began placing Srila Gurudeva’s books in stores and temples around Houston. We found success in the form of eager readers of the great transcendental literature of our previous acharyas but we ran into the obstacle of finding an income to replace the cost of the books printed. For this reason we switched to small, lightweight book racks which contained three compartments for small booklets and a donation box in the middle for people to place there contributions. Our racks were placed in clothing stores, Indian grocers, and vegetarian restaurants. Six months later the book racks are doing well, receiving donations for the books and continuing to supply people with transcendental treasures. Our flyer on the racks announces the new temple which is being built in Houston as well as the Nabadwipe children’s gurukula, a preaching strategy which was sanctioned by Srila Gurudeva himself last year and has proved an effective to open people’s hearts. Currently the proceeds from the book racks are divided between the Gurukula, the local temple, and sponsoring more books for distribution. If anyone would like to contribute towards the Houston free book rack program in the form of books for distribution or purchasing more racks please contact Abhirama Das (abhirama108@gmail.com). To date approximately 3000  of Srila Gurudeva’s book have been distributed through this method.

Excellent work with this program. New and innovative ways to increase transcendental book distribution. Very attractve rack presentation.
Is it possible that we could imitate this method in Florida?
If so, i would like to discuss some details with you.
    Thanks, in service, Baladeva Das
