GVP Proofreading Workshop

Posted on April 20, 2014 by sanatana

Respected Devotees,
Please accept our humble praṇāma.

From March 31 through April 12, some of the GVP proofreaders living in Vṛndāvana participated in a five day workshop totaling six hours.

We met to review and consolidate knowledge of standard conventions used in Śrīla Gurudeva’s English publications. This included some punctuation, capitalization and grammar rules, typographical styles, and the many aspects of post-layout proofreading. The workshop was based on material taken from our proofreading of GVP drafts and also published GVP books. Our references were 60 Most Common Mistakes of Gauḍīya Editors, The GVP Style Guide, The Chicago Manual of Style, The Modern Writer’s Handbook and Eats, Shoots and Leaves.

We pray to Śrīla Gurudeva that, despite our inadequacies, he continues to engage us in service to his publications.

Aspiring to serve Śrī Guru and the Vaiṣṇavas,
