Orcas Island Book Distribution

I have been staying here on Orcas Island, an island 3 hours north of Seattle, Washington, USA.

The people here are very friendly and open to Yoga, Farming, and Organic foods. I made some flyers asking people to please chant Hare Krsna. Also I distributed many “The Way of Love” books. The island is very small, but it takes a lot of time to get around because of the winding roads. It takes about 45 minutes to get from one end to the other, so I use my scooter to get around. With each book and maha-mantra flyer I give out with a smile on my face, I feel as though I am doing what my purpose is. I do not know of anything more enjoyable then telling someone of their forgotten dear most friend, Sri Krsna.

I remember when I was living in the Houston temple of our Srila Gurudeva, I had been going door to door and handing out countless flyers to many people. As I walked, I started thinking, “Ugh, I am so tired and there no one is taking any books. They just slam the door in my face. I think I should stop. Then I would think, Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, gave up everything and came to the West, he translated so many books, he completely gave himself to this mission of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Then Srila Gurudeva came and gave us so much too, he travelled so many times around the world to preach in his old age, tolerating so many things. So then I thought I can keep going.”

So I guess my point is that I really feel like with each book I give to someone, and each person I ask to chant Hare Krsna, I am doing a little to help Srila Gurudeva and Srila Prabhupada.

I also would like to thank the sponsors who generously gave donations so I could get the transcendental books of Srila Gurudeva and give them out to so many conditioned souls here on Orcas Island. Sometimes I get donations for the bigger books, and I use those donations for gas for my motor scooter so I can get around the island and distribute and preach everywhere here.
