Gurudeva's vyasasana

Syamarani didi and I arrived in Kuala Lumpur on March 26th from Calcutta. We stayed the first few days in the KL center. Right when I walked in to the beautiful temple, I could feel Gurudeva’s presence and could visualize him sitting on the vyasana exactly where he sat when I saw him in this temple in 2008.

Before I left India, Krsna-kanta prabhu told me he had brought a lot of posters to KL when he was there a couple years before. He had never distributed them and asked me if we could. They were still wrapped in newspaper just as he had brought them. There must have been about 200 posters. Syamarani didi and I also helped ourselves to looking through the cabinets and discovered many Siva-tattvas and old Harmonists. We asked Vijaya prabhu (in charge of the temple) if we could promote the books for any donation to which he agreed.

We also had a “blowout sale” on the posters and charged practically the printing price so we could distribute them all. Syamarani didi encouraged the devotees to think of all the presents they would need for the year (for Birthdays, Anniversaries, new babies, cultivating new devotees, etc.). The posters were flying out of our hands.

Class in KL Temple

Prasadam

We drove to Johor Bahru (at the border of Singapore) for two programs and had wonderful kirtans with Rupa Kisore prabhu who was passing through Malaysia. Syamarani didi melted everyone’s heart with her experiences with Srila Prabhupada as well as guru-tattva. Our poster and book sale was even grander there because to my surprise, the devotees had never seen most of the posters.

Kirtan in Johur Bahru

We then went to Singapore for a day and night and stayed with Taruni dasi and Priyavartra prabhu.  That evenings program was at the home of one devotee who was a disciple of Sripad Bodian Maharaja. They wanted to hear about Srila Prabhupada, so Syamarani didi again spoke about her experiences with him, and then his relationship with our Srila Gurudeva, and then Srila Gurudeva’s relationship with Srila Bhakti Pramode Puri Maharaja. It was such an enlivening program and new information for the guests. After the program, they all got many posters and all the books we had. We did not have enough titles. I again was struck deeply in my heart that just like Srila Prabhupada, Srila Gurudeva is alive in his books and the world will continue and continue to develop their relationship with him through his books, just as so many of us have with Srila Prabhupada.

Explaining the pastime

We then drove back to Kuala Lumpur for two more days and had the last program on Sunday night.  One devotee had some Gopi-gitas and Arcana-dipikas that Krsna-kanta prabhu had left with him, and we had a merciful sale – half price.

The money for the posters all goes to book sponsorship and we explained the sponsorship program to the devotees and encouraged them in that area. One devotee then took sponsored books to put in different shops and Indian restaurants.  His only payment is to write a report for www.gvpbookdistribution.com

Srila Gurudeva ki jaya!

Indeed Syamrani Didi, your preaching and visiting remote places like Manila and Cebu is quenching the yearning hearts of the devotees longing for Srila Gurudev !!! I am praying that you never get tired of us and excuse our misgivings due to our immaturity…
